Walsenburg’s United Church to sell collection of antique items donated to them over the decades
by Carolyn Newman
WALSENBURG — More than 150 pieces of furniture, including antiques, and dozens of dishes, will be sold Saturday, March 10 (snow date March 17), at the United Church, across from Loaf ‘n Jug on Main Street.
With the merger of two churches and other furniture given to the church over the years, there needs to be a thinning out.
An antique parlor set, wood and leather with a settee and three chairs, is a prize set. A trunk, oak chairs and tables, (one veneer oak table eight feet long), children’s wood chairs and tables, rocking chairs, metal or plastic shelves, framed pictures, clothes racks, rough tables for workshops, bulletin boards, bookcases, room dividers – all will be on sale.
And then there are one-of-a-kind items such as a filmstrip projector, 1904 stained glass windows from the former Community Church, an older piano, and an overhead projector. All will be placed downstairs for the day of the sale starting at 9 am and ending at 3 pm. Smaller items such as craft supplies and sheet music will be added to the mix.
This will be a tag sale – remove the tag from the item and take it to the cashier. Buyers should plan to provide help in transporting heavy items. For information contact Carolyn Newman 719-738-2840. No presales are planned at this time.
