DENVER – As a thank you to U.S. military members, Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers active duty military, veterans and the National Guard free admission to all state parks for the month of August.

Military members and veterans, resident and nonresident, can pick up a free August Military Pass at any Colorado state park or CPW office by showing proof of service. Passes become available on August 1, 2020.

CPW also offers military benefits for outdoor activities to active duty military, veterans, and disabled veterans. Pro- grams include free admission to state parks on Veterans Day, year-round free entry to all state parks to residents with Colorado Disabled Veterans license plates and free small game and fishing combination licenses for qualified disabled veterans. CPW also offers a Columbine Pass which offers reduced park entrance fees to disabled Colorado residents.

Child care home facilities improvement grant

OUR WORLD — The majority of Colorado children are cared for in home environments. According to a 2015 report by the U.S. Administration for Children and Families, between 2011 to 2015 the number of licensed family child care homes de- creased by 15%. To address the declining number of licensed slots within family child care homes and to improve quality within home-based learning environments, the Buell Foundation granted funds to the Early Childhood Council Leadership Alliance (ECCLA) to provide facility improvement funding to family child care homes. This opportunity is intended to help family child care homes start up, expand, or maintain consistent operations, increase capacity and reduce the number of family child care homes closing their doors due to financial restrictions.

The funding priorities for the Family Child Care Home Facilities Improvement Grant include: 1) statewide geographic distribution with 50 percent of funding provided outside the Denver Metro area, 2) addressing unmet service gaps, and 3) increasing capacity and access to family child care home pro- grams. In addition, priority will be given to applicants that serve vulnerable families and children.

Applications for the second round of funding are due by Friday, August 28, 2020. Receipt of your application will be confirmed by email. Due to COVID-19, ECCLA requires that completed applications be emailed to shannon@ecclacolorado.org. Please do not fax or mail your application. When your application is received a confirmation email will be sent to you. If you previously submitted an application and have not received a confirmation, please contact shannon@ecclacolorado.org.

If you are needing assistance please reach out to us. You will find more information here: https://ecclacolorado.org/fcchgrant/
