TRINIDAD/ COLORADO SPRINGS — The Trinidad Miners men’s basketball team lost a pair of league games this week to the Buena Vista Demons and the James Irwin Jaguars, dropping them into 11th place in the Tri-Peaks League. The Miners have a 10 game losing streak with a 0-7 league record and 2-12 overall.
The Demons won 58-49 and controlled the tempo of the game dominating the Miners under the boards with their three six-foot starters and were out strong shooting from the field. No statistics were available by press deadline.
The following night, the Miners lost to the Jaguars 52-36. James Irwin opened up a 20-12 first quarter lead and never looked back, extending their lead to 37-19 at the half. The Miners defense could not contain Jaguar Nathaniel Plaisted who was the game high scorer with 26 points.
The Miners will face Colorado Springs Christian February 2 with JV action at 2 pm. They will then host the Rye Thunderbolts on Tuesday with a 7 pm tip off.
