Trinidad Kiwanis Pancake Day breakfast a yummy success

by David J. Santistevan

TRINIDAD — Pancakes, anyone? The Kiwanis Club of Trinidad had the fix for you as part of National Pancake Day in March. Members of the Trinidad Kiwanis served about 100 hungry locals in an event at Trinidad Middle School with all proceeds from the breakfast going to the Robotics Team at the TMS.

“The Trinidad Kiwanis Board of Directors decided to do an event in honor of National Pancake Day, and raise some money. This was a effort, along with Kiwanis International, to help give back and help out our local kids in the Robotics Team,” Laura J. DeBella of the Trinidad Kiwanis Club said, adding, “We (Kiwanis ) are about helping kids in our community.”

Students from Trinidad School District One read poetry, the Mighty Miner Band played for those who ate in the Trinidad Middle School cafeteria, and the Robotics Team helped out, serving the breakfast along with members of the Trinidad Kiwanis Club who also volunteered for the event.

In the past, the Trinidad Kiwanis has held the Annual Labor Day Pancake Breakfast and the club wanted to continue the pancake tradition with this event to help out the Robotic Club.
