Rocky Mountain Elk FoundationTRINIDAD — Over 125 people showed up to enjoy the 22nd Annual Trinidad RMEF Chapter Banquet on June 4th.

Many of the attendees went home with new firearms, hunting accessories, home decorations, camping equipment or one of the several hunting and fishing trips that were available. Outstanding food was provided by Obie’s Feeding Station and everyone went home with a full belly. Many local businesses supported the local chapter’s efforts with donations and much of the money that is raised goes to support local conservation, wildlife habitat and education efforts. Through 2014, the Trinidad Chapter has raised $456,826 net dollars with the RMEF investing $391,705 in projects located in Las Animas and Huerfano counties.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is an international, non-profit, wildlife organization dedicated to the conservation of elk and other wildlife, and their habitat. The RMEF recently received a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator which monitors non-profit organizations and reviews their financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. Attaining a 4-Star verifies that the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in their area of work.
