DENVER — Cinco de Mayo, celebrated by Latinos and non-Latinos across the country, commemorates the victory of a heroic people and their struggle for freedom. It celebrates the tradition of freedom, and acknowledges the beauty of Latino culture.
The 2015 Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen, Huerfano-native Rebecca Suazo, was invited to attend the 29th Annual Cinco de Mayo festival in Denver on May 7, 2016. Rebecca (right) participated in a parade through downtown Denver and later at festivities held in the Civic Center, where she represented her home town of Walsenburg.
