SPRINGER — Saturday, June 11 dawned scorching hot, but that didn’t deter Springer and the surrounding areas’ Little League, Machine Pitch, and T-Ball teams from playing their final games. At one o’clock, all players, coaches, and organizers from Springer, Roy, Cimarron and Maxwell met on the field so the children who have dedicated much of their free time over the past month and a half to practicing and playing baseball, a chance to be recognized for their efforts.
All players received medals and applause, as one by one, they paraded before excited parents and family members, to bask in the glow of another Little League season coming to an end.
Following the dissemination of metals, special recognition was given to Springer Little League team member, Elijah Roberts, for earning the most money selling Krispy Kreme donuts for the league’s annual fund-raiser. Roberts received a back pack full of baseball-oriented prizes for his efforts. Last of all, All-Star Team picks were announced for ages 9-10 and 11-12.
