Raton’s Young Marines present the colors at TSJC graduation

RATON — Here is a shout out for our first ever all female Color Guard for doing such an outstanding job presenting the colors for the Trinidad State Junior College 2018 graduation ceremony.
Our young ladies highlighted are (L-R) PFC Garcia, A, PFC Murcia, L, CPL Barry, R, & PFC Carrillo, S. and myself, Ms. Lyann Sisneros, Executive Officer/Adjutant. All four of these young ladies are between 11 to 12 years of age.
The mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America’s future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.  It is open for kids between the ages of 8-18.
One of the pillars of the Young Marines program is to strengthen the lives of America’s youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship and community service. It also focuses on character building and leadership and promotes a lifestyle that is conducive to being productive members of society.
The Colfax County Young Marines is not a program for youths with serious disciplinary problems, substance abuse issues, or lengthy histories in juvenile court.
