RATON — Raton Police spent Tuesday and Wednesday collecting and processing evidence in a case involving child abuse.
Brandi Baird, 32, and James Haugh, 67, are both charged with one count of second degree sexual contact with a minor under the age of 18.  They were both booked into the Vigil Maldonado Detention Center.
Other charges filed against the pair include one count of manufacturing visual medium of sexual exploitation of children and one count of child abuse. Baird is also charged in the case with one count of incest, a 3rd degree felony.
The criminal complaint also noted Haugh is a registered sex offender and appears in the sex offender registry from a case adjudicated in April 1999.  Haugh is being held on a $50,000 bond, but may be released due to medical issues.
Baird is also being held on a $50,000 bond, however if the state doesn’t file a motion for detention by Friday, she will be released.
Preliminary hearings for both individuals will be scheduled for next week.
