P.E.O. Report

LA VETA —Sarah Smith of La Veta, a junior majoring in education at Western State, is the latest recipient of a $1500 Melissa Meyer scholarship awarded by the local Chapter BZ, P.E.O.

In addition, a very successful jewelry fundraising sale under the guidance of Valerie Smith has raised additional money for national P.E.O. educational projects, helping students from those out of school for two or more years, to foreign scholars, to those seeking advanced degrees. A Pioneer picnic staged on the plaza of Francisco Fort Museum Sunday, Aug. 21, will be a social time for members, spouses, and invited guests. Meat will be furnished with P.E.O.s supplying side dishes.

Members present Monday in addition to those mentioned were Paula Berg, LaClaire Skaggs, Amy McCray, Kathy Edmundson, Carolyn Newman, Sandy Helwig, Norma Jean Wilson, Karen Boynton, Sally Hix, Dianne Hanisch, Carolyn Tice, Valerie Smith, Donna Werner, Terry Warlick, Patti Davis, Joann Seiling, Elaine Tuley, Lola Spradley, Jill Homerding, Marjie Stroh, Debra Malone, Karen Tripp, Sara Harding, Linda Schafer, and Sharon Vezzani.
