William “Billy” H. Martinez

William “Billy” H. Martinez, 58, from Gardner unexpectedly passed away on the morning of October 10, 2013.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout his life and held jobs throughout the USA. He was a proud recipient of the Antarctica Service Medal for exploration and scientific achievement under the U.S. Antarctic Program by The Department of the Navy.
He will be remembered as a loyal and dedicated employee. Billy made numerous lifelong friends during his many adventures and considered everyone family. He was a special father, grandfather, brother, uncle and best friend, he loved everyone, and will be missed by all.
Billy was born on July 2, 1955 in Walsenburg, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents Savas and Amelia Martinez; brother Eustacio Martinez and sister Annabelle Hudson. He is survived by his children Travis (Chandra) Martinez, Stephanie (Rodney) Whitehorse; brother Alonzo (Amelia) Martinez; sisters Josephine Gibson, Rosemarie Martinez and Susie (Anthony) Ruiz; grandchildren Lucas, Jayden, Makayla, and Noah; nephews and nieces Debbie Martinez, Cheryl and Mike Ripka, Mickey and Deneen Ruiz, Jason Ruiz, Peggy and Shawn Samuelson, Anthony and Ginger Ruiz, Tracy and Cort Grooms, Jeff Barela and David Barela.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 18th in Gardner, CO at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place.
