Theodore Garfield “Ted” Pineda, Jr., 71,
of Walsenburg, passed away September 6, 2013 in Pueblo at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House where he was a patient, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ted was born in Pueblo on September 23, 1941 to Theodore G. Pineda, Sr. and Theresa Martinez Pando. Ted attended local schools and later took on a trade of auto body and paint repair which he did most of his life.
He worked for the City Glass Company and Black and White Auto in Colorado Springs. He was also a custodian for the city of Walsenburg. When injuries sustained from an auto accident took him down, he enjoyed the comforts of his home.
In 2006, Ted became employed by the Cliff Brice Gas Station/ Acorn BDD Petroleum, a job he was very much devoted and faithful to until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which caused him to leave his position in April of 2013.
On July 14, 1990 Ted married Sheryl J. Montana, his wife of 23 years. Adding to their union were their pets, Doobie, Camio, Buddy and later Augie and D.J. who have since passed on.
Ted loved life. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, mushroom picking and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing 10,000 lottery scratch tickets. He was a Denver Broncos Fan.
Ted loved meeting people and getting to know them. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was very loving, friendly and outgoing and there wasn’t anyone who didn’t admire and respect him. Ted was a wonderful husband, son, son in-law, friend, nephew, uncle, cousin and provider.
Ted always wore a sweet, friendly, loving smile which made everyone love him even more. Ted will be deeply missed by his wife, family, co-workers and acquaintances, who held him near and dear to their hearts.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore G. Pineda, Sr. and Theresa Martinez Pando; in-laws, Ernie Sr. and Flora Montana; brother-in-law, Ernie Montana, Jr.; grandparents, Leo and Emma Montana and Joe T. and Filomena Valdez; numerous aunts uncles and friends.
Ted is survived by his wife, Sheryl J. Pineda; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kirk Montana of Colorado Springs, Jamie (Tonya) Montana of Fort Collins; nieces and nephews, Alicia (Daniel), Emily (Darrel), Stephanie (Andrew) and Curtis Montana of Colorado Springs, Michael and River Montana of Fort Collins, great nephews and niece, Kaleb, Aiden and Bailey of Colorado Springs; aunt and uncle, Eleanor Vialpando of Pueblo and Carl Gomez of Pueblo, and numerous cousins; devoted friends, Desi Pacheco, Roberta Sandoval, Tim Vigil, Robert Allgire, John Gonzalez, Bob Sutherland; his Cliff Brice/Acorn family and all the wonderful people who have been so loving, caring and helpful in Ted’s time of need.
At Ted’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honor Ted will be held at 2:00 pm., Friday,
September 13, 2013 at the New Hope Community Church in Walsenburg.
