Obituary Mary Rizzi

Mary Rizzi 3-21-1921 ~ 4-14-2014 Mary Josephine Del Margo Rizzi, a long-time resident of Walsenburg and more recent resident of Pueblo and Littleton, CO, died April 14, 2014 of natural causes at the age of 93 in the home of her sister, Bernadette, in Littleton where she had been living for the past year and a half. Mary was born in Trinidad, CO on March 21, 1921 to John and Anna Del Margo. She married Ben Rizzi, a Colorado native, on July 28, 1942. They raised their four children in Walsenburg. She was a 20 year employee of JC Penney where she worked in accounting. She was a member of St. Mary Parish and played piano there in her retirement. After her children were raised and Ben’s death, she moved to Pueblo and joined Holy Family Catholic Church. There she joined the Order of Martha and was a volunteer at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in the gift shop and a Eucharistic Minister to the patients. She and Ben enjoyed many retirement years playing golf at the Walsenburg Golf Club. She had many friends in Walsenburg and in Pueblo. She often said, “I love friends!” She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and a well-liked aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary is survived by four children, all graduates of St. Mary High School in Walsenburg, Charmain (Wayne) Bearup, Lynette (Doug) Miller, Ben (Evelyn) Rizzi, and Eugene (Kathy) Rizzi; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Alverado, Jason (Jean) Miller, Erin (Mike) Quijano, Clayton (Cali) Rizzi, Nicholas Rizzi, Nicole (Nick) Quil, Eldon (Sari) Rizzi, Adam (Lindsay) Bearup, Christopher Rizzi, and Andrea (Felix) Rizzi; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosalind Ogden and Bernadette Bowman; as well as many neices and nephews. Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg or Holy Family Catholic Church in Pueblo. Services were on April 23 and held at by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
