Gertrude Marie Martinez 5-3-1922 ~ 2-22-2018
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Juan Silvano Martinez, four children (Abe, Teresa, Edna, and Gerard), her parents and several siblings.A devout Catholic and mother of 13 children. Surviving children: Matti-Ann, Roberta, Sylvia, Martha, Phyllis, Michael, Remy, Demy, and Joe. She had a full house, yet somehow always made room for more at her table.
She was a woman of unwavering Faith and strength of character, but never lost the childlike twinkle in her eye that gave way to a sweet sense of humor.
Gertrude grew up in southern Colorado. She and Silvano loved and had a deep respect for the Land. She loved learning in general especially Art, Science and music and had a lovely singing voice.
She retired from Pueblo County Extension.
She used nature’s gifts creatively in cooking and for natural remedies. She valued health and practiced Yoga before it was mainstream. Gertrude loved all the beauties of Nature, her family and Our Lord. She will be missed all the days of our lives.
Both services will be held at the Shrine of St Therese, 300 Goodnight. Pueblo, CO 81003. Rosary March 2, 2018 at 6:30 pm. Mass March 3, 2018 at 10 am.
