Geraldine “Gerry” Martinez

Gerry passed peacefully on March 3, 2020. She was born in Butte Valley, Colorado on January 4, 1941 to Louis J. Guigli (Della Daher) and Alice Just (Varisto Palazari).
Gerry was raised in the coal camps of Walsenburg. She always talked of old times in the camps being raised by her family. She spoke of the past like it was yesterday, and her true talent was being a great storyteller. Every conversation with her included memories of lost family members. She had a crazy sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was a great listener, advice giver, homemaker, wife, mother, and the best “Nonie” a child could ask for. She was the heart of our family, and her daily calls checking on everyone will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John “Abe” Martinez, and her three brothers, Fredrick { Tate} Guigli, Richard Palazari, and Louis Guigli Jr.
She is survived by her children, Cheri Martinez, LeeAnn Gambucci, Gina Espinosa, Lisa Martinez, and Nicole Martinez; her grandchildren, Ryan Espinosa, Jerrod DeHerrera, Austin Fisk, Gunnar Fisk, Lauren Hakala, Jordan Gambucci, Gabrielle Gambucci, and Anellise Martinez; her great grandchildren, Markus French, Cassidy French, Ella Hakala, Cash Hakala, Izayah Johnson, and Zoee Sanchez; nieces, Paula Errett and Manetta DeRemer.
