Obituary Edward P. Tafoya

Edward P. Tafoya 8-20-1936 ~ 7-3-2015 Born August 20, 1936, Edward P. Tafoya went to be with Our Lord on July 3, 2015. Edward, also known to family and friends as “Ed” or “Eddie”, was born to Joe P. Tafoya and Eloisa M. (Mondragon) Tafoya. Edward was a lifelong resident of Capulin, New Mexico. Edward had a passion for horses, and as a young man he trained horses for several years. He was called to duty for the United States Army and served his country proudly for four years. While on duty in Fort Sill, OK, he met, fell in love with and married Maxine C. Hamilton. After Edward’s hitch in the Army, he and Maxine returned to Capulin where Edward worked for neighboring ranches, Shorty Hudson and as a liquid propane gas installer and deliveryman. Edward also worked for Seaton Oil company in Des Moines, NM. He loved to hunt and fish when time allowed. Raising his family came first and foremost. He worked hard most of his life and provided a good home for his wife and boys. Edward was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August 2014 and fought the good fight. Edward was preceeded in death by his father, Joe P. Tafoya and his Mother Eloisa (Mondragon) Tafoya; and by his brother, Jessie Tafoya and sister Louisa (Trujillo) Tafoya. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Maxine C. Tafoya; sons Jimmy D. Tafoya and wife, Robin, of Missouri; Ray L. Tafoya and wife, Elsie, of Raton; Ronald Tafoya of Denver; and Ricky Tafoya and wife, Helen, of Albuquerque. Edward is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, plus one on the way. Edward is also survived by

his sisters, Ruth Hyer and companion, Leo, of Springer; Marcella Abeyta of Las Cruces; Rose Cruz of Capulin; Katy Sintas and husband, Tilio, of Capulin; Melinda Cruz and husband, Wayne, of Capulin; brothers, John Tafoya and wife, Mary, of Raton; and Robert Tafoya of Raton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers are Tim Sintas (his godson), Joseph Cruz, Freddie Arellano, Mark Seaton, Tolo Martinez, and Garrett King. Honorary pallbearers are Tilio Sintas, Wayne Cruz, Ted Sneed, Jerry Espinoza, Benny Bachica, Joe M. Martinez, Charlie Montoya, Eloy Gonzales, Mike Sintas, Tim Morrow, Carlos Cornay, Lorenzo Trujillo,and Bill Baker. Edward was blessed to have many close friends who visited with him daily and who called to check on him. Edward also developed a very special friendship with his Hospice nurse, Robin.
