Norman Lawrence Lupton of La Veta, Colorado died at his home in La Veta at the age of 90 on March 21, 2016 while in Hospice Care for four days.
Norman was married to Joyce (Allee) Lupton of Pueblo in Taos, New Mexico and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February with a surprise dinner and dance.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons Wayne (Mary) of Denver, Henry (Frances) of Avondale, and Wesley (Donna) of Kruever, Texas; and his only daughter, Debbie (Adon) (Lupton/Morgan) Rodriquez of Denver City, Texas; as well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and two great-grandchildren expected soon.
His parents, Ethel Mae (Gilbert) Lupton and Henry P. Lupton preceded him in death.
Norman joined the U.S. Navy at 17 and served in the Pacific Ocean on an aircraft carrier called the Saginaw Bay during World War II, participating in the Battle of Iwa Jima and Okinawa.
He worked for 25 years at C.F.I as a steel worker in the rail mill and retired. He then went to work in La Veta for an additional 25 years as a US Postal worker, delivering mail.
Norman was a member of the Odd Fellows and enjoyed children of every age ‘till the day before he died.
The funeral for Norman was held at 2pm on Friday March 25 at the Spanish Peaks Church with a pot luck reception held afterwards in the church gym.
