Local Arts and Cultural organizations receive grants from City of Trinidad

by Bill Knowles

TRINIDAD — The Trinidad Arts and Culture Advisory Commission, in a press release, announced grant awards of $4,000 each to three of the city’s Arts and Cultural organizations Monday. The recipients are the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre, the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Art, and the Trinidad Area Arts Council.

The announcement came on the heels of recent changes in how the City of Trinidad makes monetary grants available to the various organizations that promote the arts and cultural heritage of Trinidad. The changes were effective with the approved 2016 city budget.

The advisory commission is charged with reviewing and awarding grant funding to Trinidad’s three arts-based non-profit organizations. They will also call for applications and will be selecting smaller individual project grants as well. Part of their mission is to develop a strong public arts program in the community.

The commission will be releasing more information regarding project grants and public art in the near future.
