David and Renee Rinehart, Ken Bacon honored
by Marilyn Russell
LA VETA — On Tuesday, November 6th, La Veta Trails held its annual event at Sid’s High Country BBQ and Grill to thank the many people who volunteer their time on and behalf of trails. La Veta Trails applauded its 57 dedicated volunteers who have worked a total of 1,500 hours since April 2015, when La veta Trails was founded. Our work would not be possible without the effort of our volunteers who build trails and footbridges, keep them clear so trails can be easily followed, help out at events, and much more. Because of these invaluable contributions, we want to say a big public thank you and we salute you.
Each year La Veta Trails uses the Volunteer Thank You Party as an opportunity to showcase the people whose work on behalf of trails goes above and beyond. We are thrilled to announce that David and Renee Rinehart, until recently the publishers of The Signature Newspaper, are the 2017 Business Trail Champions. David and Renee promoted trails, spread the word about trail related events, supported the non-profit community, and demonstrated their extraordinary generosity towards the community by designing and donating five free quarter page ads that promoted Walk or Wheel Wednesdays in La Veta in May, 2017.
Ken Bacon of La Veta received the 2017 Volunteer Trail Champion in recognition of the many hours he spent on the School Nature Trail Restoration Project, events, and always being willing to help when asked. This year, Ken completed the 16-hour Volunteer Outdoor Colorado Crew Leader Training that was co-sponsored by La Veta Trails, Lathrop State Park, and LiveWell Huerfano County.
