Joy Jean Faris

10/13/1947 ~ 1/25/2016

Born in Walsenburg to Joe E. and Mary Alice Faris on October 13, 1947, Joy passed away unexpectedly in Carlsbad, California on January 25, 2016. She was near her sons Mark and Eric Stinnett and her grandchildren Jake, Aiden, Sabra and Devin Stinnett, who affectionately called her Noni.

Surviving family members are her brothers and sisters, Ray {Diann} Faris, Gay {Dave} Farmer, Jann {Tom} Vail, Edna {Randy} Dust, Andy Faris and Nick Faris and many adored nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.

Joy grew up in Huerfano County and was known as an outstanding cowgirl and smart businesswoman. She worked alongside her family for many years at the Marlboro Inn and Faris Land and Cattle. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for her favorite athletes, especially her grandchildren. A voracious reader, determined gardener and excellent cook, Joy was a feisty character with a fun loving spirit, outrageous laugh and a special bond with animals, especially horses and cow dogs.

A memorial service was held in Oceanside, California and her body was cremated. A celebration of her life will be held in Huerfano County at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made be given to one of her favorite charities, World Wildlife. com. Joy adored her family and never failed to tell them so. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
