JMHS Panthers and Hoehne Farmers compete at Santa Fe League meet

by David Tesitor

RYE — The Santa Fe League results for the John Mall Panthers and the Hoehne Farmers were completed last Tuesday, May 3 (results posted after the WJ went to press). Several Lady Panthers placed in their events. While their individual events at the Santa Fe Meet showcased the Panthers, higher placing athletes for the teamdid not improve their position among the top 18 qualifiers for state. The WJ is proud to showcase the girls team who have not been mentioned in the past.

The boys’ teams from John Mall and Hoehne continued their march to qualifying for state as several athletes from John Mall, including the 4X100 relay team, took first place in their various events. Several of the performances put these athletes on the road to state. (See related story). John Mall’s Garrett Quintana and Andrew Vigil both dominate the discus among all competitors in the state. Team standings placed John Mall at 3rd with 105 points and Hoehne at 4th with 94.
