WALSENBURG — Students at John Mall High School recently got a chance to interview for great jobs at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center. While the hospital isn’t going to be hiring high school students as doctors until they finish medical school, they did provide the students some real life experience interviewing for a job. Many managers of SPRHC donated their lunch time to conduct these practice interviews. The students filled out applications after a brief introduction to the facility by the Human Resource Director, Tony Marostica. Most of the students had never interviewed for a job before and the experience should help them be more confident in the future when they really are interviewing. One student said “It makes a big difference when you are really at a business talking to someone who really hires people. I was really scared, but it really went well”. These mock interviews were part of the personal finance class taught by Jonathan Ambler. “We are supposed to be preparing students for their future and this is a really good way to do that. Everyone has to build interviewing skills,” Ambler said.
