WALSENBURG — The John Mall High School band, under the direction of Ben Pollack, participated in a bands competition last Saturday, May 21 at Elitch Gardens in Denver.
After the performance, they spent the rest of the day doing the rides at Elitches, and on Sunday, went to a matinee concert of the Colorado Symphony before returning home to Walsenburg.
Pollack says, “The students had a blast riding the roller coasters and they were awarded a silver plaque in honor of how hard they have worked this year! Here is to the first award this band has won this century! And hopefully here’s to many many more!”
