Human of the Rocky Mountain Southwest: March 29, 2018

My name is Willow – Brock and I moved here from Conroe, TX in November.
Why Walsenburg?  A lot of people ask me that.  We were both working as massage therapists in the fastest growing city in the United States.  We both knew something was missing, being surrounded by people everywhere we went, but there was no sense of community.
On a trip last year to Colorado, I fell in love with the mountains.  We made three trips last year, and as I got to know the people here, I felt this was the next step on my path.
I love it here because there are people living from their heart.  It’s nice to see familiar faces day in and day out.  People want to work together to make this planet a better place.
There is a true community here, like what I grew up with visiting my relatives in small towns in Iowa.
Moving here from a huge city was not culture shock.  I finally feel like I am a part of the culture.  Here, there are people with stories to tell and wisdom to share.
My two adult children still reside in Texas and that is the hardest part, but I moved to a beautiful place they will come to visit, Walsenburg.
