Health department executives resign

HUERFANO / LAS ANIMAS COUNTIES — The top two management officials of the Las Animas / Huerfano District Health Department have resigned their positions.
Mary A. Garcia, executive director and David Reineke, finance manager, have resigned according to an undated press release issued by the Las Animas/ Huerfano District Health Department.
No details were released by health department officials. Assistant Finance Manager Kristy Toupal told the Huerfano World Journal last week the department would not be releasing the contents of either Garica’s or Reineke’s letters of resignation citing personnel confidentiality.
Della Duran, a member of the bi-county board of health would only confirm the pair submitted their letters of resignation and they were accepted by the board. Another Huerfano County representative, Lourae King, also citing personnel regulations, had no comment when contacted.
Phone messages left for individuals who have the same name as the principals and the board president were not returned.
The undated, unsigned, press release said; “The Executive Director and Finance Manager of the Las Animas – Huerfano County’s District Health Department are no longer with the agency. The Las Animas/ Huerfano District Health Department Board of Health members are working on a plan to fill the vacancies.”
