TRINIDAD — Severe weather moved through Trinidad and Las Animas County around 12:30 Monday, knocking out power to most of the city for about two hours. Rain mixed with hail fell throughout the county for about half an hour. Service to the core area of Trinidad was restored in about two hours. Phone alerts concerning the possibility of tornadoes were issued, and there was a confirmed tornado southeast of Model. Luckily no injuries have been reported. Flash flooding occurred along Linden and Pine areas, where hail stones blocked the city’s storm drains, bringing out city crews for clean up. However, the city reports that trees suffered the most damage, with leaves being stripped from them.
