Fundraiser for La Veta’s Francisco Crossing a big success

LA VETA — Jack Yule, co-founder of the Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival and front-man for The Celtic Orphans Celtic music troupe, was on hand on December 9, at Francisco Crossing in downtown La Veta. The Crossing has been home, in part, as a music and performance hall, while it was part of a local non-profit. The building was recently purchased and the new owner wants to maintain the performance hall while adding new businesses in the front portion of the facility. However, the performance hall has no heat, so a fundraiser was held. Yule not only performed music with the Celtic Orphans, he told stories of what it was like growing up on a rural farm in Scotland in the early to mid-1900s. The event raised more than $700.
