RATON — Formal proceedings against Colfax County Magistrate Court Judge Warren G. Walton have been instituted by the New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission for nine counts of rule violations.
After an investigation into the offenses by the commission, Hon. Warren G. Walton has agreed to the following: a mentor will be appointed by the NM Supreme Court to oversee and to report progress to the Supreme Court and the commission. A public censure of Walton’s activities will be published in the New Mexico Bar Association’s ‘Bar Bulletin’. Enrollment in and successful completion of National Judicial College webcast courses, Ethics and Judging and Special Considerations for the Rural Court Judge at the respondent’s expense. Three week suspension of pay that will be deferred providing the respondent successfully completes the courses, mentorship and probation.
