FFA does great at State

FORT COLLINS/LA VETA — La Veta FFA attended the State Career Development Events on May 1-3 in Fort Collins and did an outstanding job. There were about 1200 FFA members from all over the state that competed. La Veta had six teams that competed in Dairy Food Products, Livestock Evaluation, Horse Evaluation, Meats Evaluation, Floriculture, and Veterinary Science. The Dairy Food Products team placed 3rd overall and team member Tannis Everett placed 5th as an individual (gold), team member Olivia Cordova placed 8th as an individual (gold), and team member Eric Morgan placed 24th as an individual (silver). In the Livestock Evaluation the team placed 16th in the state (bronze) with team meber Ashley McCay placing 39th as an individual (silver) and team member Clayton Watson placing 59th as an individual (bronze). In the Meat Evaluation the team placed 4th in the State (silver) and team member Carissa Cardenas placed 9th as an individual (Gold), team member Jose Aguirre placed 14th as an individual ( silver), and team member Samuel Eastmen placed 33rd as an individual (bronze). Floriculture placed 6th in the state (gold). Team member Payge Griego was14th (gold), Rachelle Andreatta 30th (silver), M’Kinna Lee Smith 32nd (silver), and Sidney Ferrari 36 (silver). In the Vet Science Career Development Event, La Veta took first place and will represent the state of Colorado and the La Veta FFA Chapter at the 2016 National FFA Convention in Fall. They will have the oportunity to complete for a National title. The Vet Science team consists of Truckee White placing 5th as an individual (gold), Gato Montez placing 18th as an individual (silver), Cassie Blew placing 20th as an individual (silver), and Kaylee Corsentino placed 23rd as an individual (silver).
