Farmers volleyball team goes 4-1 Fowler, Swink and Rocky Ford this week

HOEHNE — The Hoehne Lady Farmers (11-2) (7-0) and now ranked #3 in the Colorado High School Activities Association Class 2AA Girls Volleyball polls, last week went 4-1, with wins over Crowley County, Swallows Charter Academy, Soroco, and Wray. Hoehne’s only loss was to #2 ranked and unbeaten DaySpring Christian (11-0) at the Simla Tournament.

Hoehne has three big League matches coming up this week, at home with Swink (5-3)(5-2) whom they beat on the road in three sets on September 6, and at Rocky Ford (7-5)(3-4) whom they beat in four sets on September 8.

Last Thursday, Hoehne beat SCA 25-10, 25-13, 25-19, then Saturday beat Soroco (6-6) 25-17, 26-24, 25-16 at Soroco High School. Juniors Jaclyn Tortorelli and Shaley Walton combined for 18 kills, while sophomore Kamryn Baca-Cordova had seven total blocks and seniors Zoe Revas and Sydney Aragon combined for 23 digs in the win.

Against Wray (5-3) Hoehne won 25-19, 25-21, and 25-23. Walton was again strong at the net with 14 kills and 14 total blocks, and senior Ryanna Coberly had 15 service points in the match and served up five aces. The Farmers as team had 30 assists and 74 digs.

“We are getting better, we still have some things to work on but we are improving,” Hoehne Farmer first year head coach Tyrel Barry said. “Our girls are positive, and they believe in one another. We have some important matches in league play coming up, we need to prepare for districts coming up.”

Hoehne will host Swink starting at 4 pm tonight then will be at Rocky Ford on October 4 starting at 5 pm
