COLORADO SPRINGS — Somewhat of a local celebrity, Michaela Moore, daughter of RE-1 Superintendent Michael Moore and Terry Moore will be at the state tournament today running in the 100 M dash as the #1 seed in the state, running the dash in 12.27 seconds. Her time also ranks her number 31 in the nation. She also runs the 200M as the #4 seed in 25.69 seconds and is on the 4X100 relay team. She is a senior at Cheyenne Mountain high School and will attend The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs under an athletic and academic scholarship.
PUEBLO WEST — Former Huerfano County athlete, MaLeigha Menegatti, daughter of David and Brandi Meneghatti, will compete for Pueblo West today in the 400M run as the 16th seed, qualifying in a time of 59.65 seconds, a time she broke at her home meet last weekend. She also is the #4 seed in the 800M (2:17.08 min) and will race with the Pueblo West Cyclones 4X400 relay team (4:01.23 min) Brandi was the former La Veta Redskin track coach and moved away four years ago to teach and coach at Pueblo West.
