January 23 @ 4:00 PM - February 23 @ 5:00 PM
TRINIDAD — Trinidad State will feature the works of a Colorado master weaver from January 23 to March 2, 2018 in the President’s Office. Jacque Hart is a San Luis Valley resident who raises animals for their wool. She dyes the wool, spins it into yarn and makes scarves, shawls, coverlets and wall hangings.
Hart also does pictorial art using a drawloom. It has been likened to painting on canvas. Her work has been featured in magazines and periodicals on a national and international level and she has received many awards for her unique work. She got her start in the Four Corners area working in the Navajo tradition under her mentor, Mae Bekis.
Trinidad State will feature an opening reception on Tuesday, January 23, 4 to 5 pm in the President’s Office, Berg Building, Room 218. Light refreshments will be served. Hart’s work will then be on display during normal office hours, 8 am to noon and 1 to 5 pm Monday through Friday until March 2. The public is invited to drop by and take a look at this unique show.
