Eric Bachman

Eric Bachman

11-1947 ~ 2-23-2018

Born in November 1947 and raised on a farm in Illinois, Eric passed away 2/23/18 in his beloved little home in southern France. In between he lived an adventurous life! He discovered the Huerfano in the 70’s, jumped into real estate, learned from successes and failures, and opened Bachman & Associates in La Veta. He enjoyed the challenges of getting deals to work for both buyer and seller. This business thrived for decades and was recently sold as Eric semi-retired from the business. He loved living in small town La Veta, and during his years here planted over a hundred trees, restored several old adobes, and supported many local causes.

Eric always wanted to see “what’s around the bend”. This urge took him to many interesting places in the world, and on happy camping jaunts through the back roads of the Southwest. Unpacking from one adventure, he was planning the next. In his 50’s, the French blood in his veins (his mom was a war bride) called to him, and he fell in love with France. He bought a little stone vineyard barn, which he refurbished just enough for a rustic getaway, spending two months a year there. Many La Vetians have enjoyed the place at his invitation. He had a life long enjoyment of art, good food, and wine, and sought these out wherever he went.

Eric leaves behind his mother Nadine, sister Tania, beloved kids Jason (Stacey), Annie, Taya (David), and three treasured grandchildren Gage, Hudson, Nyah, all of whom filled his life and heart with love and laughter. He leaves his long time companion in life and love, Helen Hill, and many friends around the globe, as Eric enjoyed people and made friends wherever he went….

The memorial service for Eric Bachman will be held on SUNDAY, MARCH 18th at 2 PM at the Parkside in La Veta.
