HUERFANO — Dear Fellow Citizens:

Let me begin by rolling back the calendar to the mid 1980’s. Our community health care system is in a desperate plight. Our old hospital on East Indiana was structurally unsound, uninsurable and uncertifiable as a healthcare facility. What would be the future of our community without a hospital? The short story is that with the aggressive participation of our veterans’ organizations, the dedication of the hospital board and the stalwart support of our community, the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, as we know it today, became a reality. I was honored and proud to be a part of its creation and development. It has grown from its original nucleus of a hospital and veterans’ nursing home to include family and specialty outreach clinics.

Going forward as a community I would like to see us build a healthcare system that has a more robust continuity of care to include senior living at all levels and provide for the special needs of our recent veterans.

I have previously served twelve years on the board and was one of the organizers of the Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation twenty years ago. I would be honored once again to work and serve our community as a hospital board member.

Briefly as to my credentials: veteran of both the Navy and the United States Public Health Service, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Master’s Degree in healthcare administration and member of Colorado Hospital Association.

I would appreciate your vote of confidence and the opportunity to continue my service to our community.
