DA releases ID on the two Weston victims

WESTON — The identity of the two victims in the Dec. 8, shooting near Weston has been released by the DA’s office as part of their investigation.

David Lee Norton, 33 and Destiny Levario, 29, both from Weston, have been identified as the deceased. The cause of death has not been released although the original call to 911 indicated a possible shooting.

According to the press release from the DA’s office on Dec. 14, 2017, “…a preliminary investigation indicates that the two victims may have possibly died as a result of gun shot wounds. Autopsy reports have not been completed and may take upwards of six weeks or more for completion. Once reports have been completed, additional information may be released at the time.”

The story began unfolding as Las Animas County Sheriff’s responding to a report of a shooting in the 14000 block of Aspen Drive in Weston, CO, on Friday, Dec. 8. They found two bodies inside the residence after they arrived.

At that time, one man, Kenneth Merle Norton, 64 of Weston, was taken into custody and booked on two charges of first-degree murder. Later in the week, Norton was charged with two counts second-degree murder following his arraignment.

Bond has not been set.
