The brief hearing was presided over by Huerfano County Court Judge Gary Stork for the Third Judicial District Court.

Both defendants appeared in custody and bond for each was set at $50,000 cash. The investigation into the incident in which Jorge Gonzalez, 39, of the Fort Morgan area of Colorado was shot and killed by one of the residents continues according to Huerfano County Sheriff Bruce Newman. Garcia suffered a gunshot wound to the hand during the incident and Gonzalez suffered at least one fatal gunshot wound to his left eye. The investigation into the shooting continues although no charges related to the homicide have been announced. Both defendants are scheduled to be back in court on April 11, 2016 at 1:30 pm.
