Old time, summertime, concert treat

WALSENBURG- The Huerfano Winds will be playing their first summer concert Friday June 27, 2008 from 4:30- 5:30 pm on the front porch of the courthouse.  Selections will include patriotic anthems, toe tapping marches, highlights from Broadway musicals, film and movie favorites.  Bring something comfortable to sit on, and enjoy what was once a community favorite of small-town Americana; concerts in the out-of-doors.  Picnic meals spread out on a blanket, couples holding hands under the night-lit skies while children romped around at their parents’ feet were all accompaniments to the wonderful sounds coming from the community musicians performing from a band shell, the lawn of a park, or as once was the tradition in Walsenburg, in the parking lot of the “old” Safeway store.  So, recapture a fond memory and make it part of today’s summertime treats by listening to your own community band this Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 on the Courthouse portico.
