WALSENBURG- Walsenburg police are searching for three men involved in a robbery Monday evening at at Star Drug, at the corner of 7th and Main St. Investigators say three masked men, one of whom was carrying a gun, threatened customers and employees in the store. Two people were assaulted. The men took a large amount of prescription medication. Witnesses report seeing the men flee in a tan Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo northbound on Main Street. The jeep was later found to have been stolen from the 1000 block of W 7th St. The SUV was found abandoned shortly later. A second vehicle along the 200 block of Maple St in Walsenburg was also damaged in an apparent attempt to steal it. It is unknown if this or any other car thefts could be connected. A Code Red alert was put out to residents in the eastern section of Walsenburg for residents to be on the lookout for three men having dark complexions and being fairly slender. Officers from the Sheriff Department and Colorado State Patrol assisted in trying to track the suspects in the area of Highway 10 and I-25, but the men were able to get away.
