Primero Bulldog Dominique Quezada takes first. Throw beats most boys

PUEBLO — In their first track meet of the season the Hoehne Farmer men showed well as they continued their state qualify pace from last season, competing in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles and finishing in the top eight, setting the bar for those looking to qualify for state. In the 110M hurdles, Jacob Yates came in second behind Dane Palazzo of Valor Christian who came in at a time of 15.60 seconds. Yates ran it in 15.69. Trystan Moltrer was third (16.07), Galvin Baker was seventh (17.85) and Nicholas Navarette was eighth in 18.05 seconds. In the 300M, Palazzo was first (42.07 seconds), Yates was second at 42.43, Navarette was third (43.53) and Molter was fourth in a time of 43.56.
The Farmers men’s relay teams also had four top eight finishes. In the boys 4×100 meter relay, the Farmers finished third, just two seconds behind Harrison with their time of 46.27. The relay team consists of Navarette, Kyle Rowe, Jordon Apple and Yates. In the 4X200M, Hoehne came in second behind Pueblo West (1:32.81 min) with a time of 1:39.05. That relay team consisted of James Hill, Dario Orozoco, Apple, and Rowe. In the 4X400, two Farmer teams placed. The ‘A’ Team with Yates, Rowe, Apple and Navarette placed third (3:56.82) behind Sand Creek (3:50.41). The “B’ Team of Moltrer, Hill, Baker, and Orozoco placed seventh (4:37.88). Finally, in the 4X800M, Hoehne placed seventh (9:48.08). Running the race were Apple, Dalton Hudson, Robert Walker and Matthew Vigil.
In individual events, the Farmer men also had two top eight placers. Baker was eighth in the 400M dash (58.25 seconds) and Federico Orozoco was fifth in the discus at 125 feet- 1.50inches.
The Lady Farmers also had five top eight finishers. The 4X100 relay team of Kamryn Baca-Cordova, Kiley Geiser, Abbigayle Dorenkamp, and Shaelyn Walton placed seventh (55.24 sec). The Hoehne girls team placed fifth in the 4X400 with a time of (4:55.26). The runners are Walton, Dorenkamp, Geiser, and Autumn Gutierrez. In the field events, Walton was in a three way tie in the high jump at 4 feet-8 inches, Dorenkamp placed eighth in the triple jump at 28’-4”, and Syerra Trujillo was eighth in the discus (77’-4”).
Primero’s Quezada shatters personal best
The Primero Bulldogs showed tough competition in both the men’s and lady’s teams. Alysia Baca displayed her skill in the 3200M run, placing fifth in a time of 13:55.64 minutes. In the girls discus throw, Dominique Quezada took first with a throw of 98-10 feet. Quezada shattered her personal best throw by almost 40 feet and her throw is the mark to beat for all athletes throwing the discus.
