The Town of La Veta is seeking to immediately hire one qualified individual to be the Director of the Fort Francisco Museum, a historic site that serves as an educational facility to preserve, exhibit, and communicate the natural and human history of Huerfano County and surrounding region. The Museum is the historical centerpiece of La Veta, Colorado, and provides quality educational opportunities and programs for engagement and enjoyment of patrons, community members, and visitors. The Museum Director will manage the day-to-day operations of Fort Francisco Museum and its gift shop, follow approved policies and procedures, and supervise activities of seasonal employees and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include: curate and manage museum collections, program coordination, budget management, as well as public relations and publicity. The Director will be an employee of the Town of La Veta and report directly to the Museum Board of Directors. This is a seasonal position where the Director will work 1500 contact hours between approximately February 24 – November 6. The Director’s position requires no more than 40 hours per week and benefits are not included.
